I might be looking back with rose coloured glasses but I swear drivers have been cuntier post covid. Impatient, rude, and speeding with absolute impunity. And we are not talking just a little bit over, but 10 to 20 ks over in suburban areas.

I think it is not just drivers. People in general seem to be a lot more selfish, rude and impatient. Instead of pulling people together as a society Covid seemed to have accelarated a move towards self absorbsion and disregard for others.

I'd agree with that, very quick to anger too and assume the worst. Someone doesn't agree with them on something and there's immediate hostility.

it was the wording, it was bad and it has stuck

We were told Social Distancing was good.

They should have used the wording Safe Physical Distancing. It's less anti-social.

I put it down more to a sort of tribalism, where people pulled into different groups (pro/anti vax, lockdown etc) who all denigrated each other. There is a constant increase in polarisation of all views, political and otherwise, where people are focus on tearing down the "opposition" rather than trying to find any sort of compromise or consensus.

I agree. I just want a hand up as thanks or acknowledgment when I gave way to someone in a narrow street or let someone in.

I barely get any post covid. It’s the simplest easiest way to say thanks and people can’t be bothered or just plain rude.

And that’s just with giving way or letting someone in.

As a pedestrian, drivers have been angrier at me for walking across a crossing when I had a green man. Throw my middle finger up and tell them to sit and rotate. They seem to be so much more jerkier

flashing red means don't start, I'm still allowed to be on the crossing if I started when it's green , it's not like I can magically get to the other side

Yep! Pedestrian Rage here too. I have right of way now, and stay behind that fucking white line!

Today someone crept right up my ass as I slowed to stop for a pedestrian to cross at a zebra crossing. And then as I got going again took off revving and went round me. Um, do you think that being agro will make me run people over for your convenience?

I see this shit all the time. A car in front is stopping or slowing for things out of their control and the driver behind is getting pissy.
