It's been a little bit since Space Age released and I'm curious to hear what everyone has been up to lately in their factory!

On my part I've been ready to go to Aquilo for a while now but I got distracted rebuilding everything on Nauvis with a rail-based city block design. I also got a calcite mining platform up and running and switched over a bunch of production to use molten metal.

I'm hoping to check out Aquilo anytime now but I might have to do a bit of work on Gleba and Fulgora before I can afford to be stranded again.

What sorts of things have you been working on in your factory?

How narrow is narrow for your builds?

I finally built a ship capable of getting to Aquilo but even then I'm considering redesigning it a bit and scaling up even more. At first I didn't realize how important overall width was compared to weight.

In this case i made it 5 thrusters, so 22 (5*4+2 for pipes) tiles wide. I just started the build with 20 and then had to extend the front and back by 1 tiles. Fitting everything in 20 tiles makes it sooo long O.O

But i don't know, maybe even more narrow is possible. I discovered that you don't need railguns pointing diagonally if you put one pointing to the front right at the edge. That way asteroids will also only be split in front of you, so they can be demolished further by front turrets. If you split them on the side of your ship the splitters can get really fast and move to your ship so quick that they hit you.
