tl;Dr "They make them higher, because they get a better elevation to let the traffic go faster"
They don't explain how that makes traffic faster, though.
Maybe the large transport vehicles don't have to slow as much (in theory) since there's a longer run up and a less severe kink to make the turn? Purely a guess.
