A community to discuss video game modding.

While video game modding is typically associated with PC gaming this community isn't limited to just that aspect. Things like source ports/game engine recreations, emulation and ROM hacks, and even modding games on console all are neat avenues for discussion!

Guidelines:

Be nice to others.
Don't post lewd NSFW photos or videos. Discussion, in the context of modding, is allowed but may fit better in a different community like [email protected].
Avoid clickbait titles. Even if it means altering the original suggested title.
Avoid dumping links. The body of a post can be used to provide context, a summary, a question for community discussion, or additional sources for example.
Feel free to reach out to the moderator. If you want something added to the guidelines section/stickied posts or require anything else.

What ROM hack/homebrew game would you give your younger self to make them a schoolyard legend? (leminal.space)

Whenever I see impressive ROM hacks running on original hardware I think about how they would have been received if they were released during the console's generation. Talking about Sonic being in the original Super Smash Bros or being able to play Super Mario 64 with split screen would normally be pretty close to saying your dad works for Nintendo but if you could back it up with an actual copy of the game which would you choose to make yourself a schoolyard legend?

Ahhh, the lost era of poring through GameFAQs textfiles, where every visual cue had to be described in prose or approximated in ASCII art.

There's games I did not beat until a playthrough showed up on Youtube. "Oh, there! Why did LinkGoku117 call that stump a kettle?"
