Because the lefties voted for it saying it wouldn't be abused, and here it is, being abused.
The article mentions two or three anecdotes that were clear failures, but I haven't seen studies showing a systemic problem. Do you have evidence of that?

Although this is run by the govt, so by definition it's systemic. In any case, there hasn't been a study (afaik), so we have no idea just how widespread the abuse is
Median age being 77 objectively means there isnt widespread abuse. That's about the life expectancy of Canada.
That doesn't follow. The age of recipients doesn't tell us anything about why they received MAiD, who initiated the process, or the protections built into the process.
Considering how Canadian institutions have fucked up in the past, MAiD is worth keeping an eye on. But OP hasn't provided anything showing a problem.
