Brazil is in America
In my region of Canada, people usually differentiate from the continential americas by specifying north or south or grouping them like I just did. I also highly doubt any Brazilians refer to themselves as "american". At the very least the few I have met were quite proud to specifically be referred to as Brazilian.
They do call themselves American. I have met quite a few who do. I used to teach english online during covid and lots of them were from Brazil. They're just not outlandishly exclaiming the whole contintent belongs to them every chance they get. Same way they don't claim a sport league as World championship.
They usually just go "We're American but yeah… (some white snowflakes stole it and we don't say anything because it has anger issues)"
And you're on fediverse now so using a global representation would be more appreciated rather than stroking propaganda shit all over the place.
