Jefferson wrote in 1787
And what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

We've moved so far from this country's original ideals, and people like trump personify the final fall.
To think that Trump holds the same office as Jefferson is truly mind-blowing. How far we have fallen.
He is the opposite of every single virtue we have aspired to. He has none of the qualities a nation or a people should want in their leaders, and all of the ones you don't want.
