Losing the fight against some stupid broadleaf in the front yard lawn. MIL reckons I need to weed and feed it but a weekend 7 days after a mow but 7 days before the next mow with no rain is a bit much to ask for at the moment.

When I moved in the back yard was a dump. but what little kikuyu was there went nuts and within 2 years with basically no effort the kikuyu won and it now looks fantastic. Thinking I should just start transplant runners in the front yard and let it do its thing. Might take a few years but if it ends up half as good as the back yard I wont be complaining.

I'm amazed that people know the difference between grasses. Me - grass bad. Going back inside 🀧 Even fake grass wants to kill me.

I can tell the difference between indica and sativa.

I leave it off the resume.

to be honest I thought it was a VERY different name. I only really remember cause my parents would encourage us to steal runners from our neighbors lawn that were coming through the fence to help it spread into hours.

I have the opposite problem… wish I could snap my fingers and the neighbours couch grass that’s invaded my place could be gifted to you

I thought it was couch too!!! But in our case kikuyu. And tbh it makes a fantastic lawn so letting its do its thing has worked out great for us. Doubt you could fight it and win if you wanted to.

Oh I can’t

Agreed with CEO grass is evil. How about some nice chamomile or stepable mint?

I use chemical warfare., broadleaf herbicide and it works well, but I’m not a gardening enthusiast so my word probably doesn’t mean much round here

yeah I have been trying that, but losing the war quite badly unless I wanna poison the whole thing.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I mean yeah, I wasn’t shy about using a lot of it.

My old man has been using Dicamba M recently which is a selective herbicide and it seems to be working so far. Not a fan of the shit but it's not harming the kikuyu (unlike glyphosate).

I've just been going around with a mattock removing it by hand and filling the holes with soil and some lawn food. Only problem this way is the green bin becomes super heavy very quickly.

Sadly I'd be digging up half the damn lawn. That isnt a joke, it is EVERYWHERE.
