Satisfactory has a 3D element that lends itself well to trailers; FPV is always going to be more engaging than isometric; Factorio doesn't even have cut scenes to lean on (thank the gods!).
Honestly, the Satisfactory previews look fantastic, but paradoxically make me not want to play the game as much. It's because of the type of game; these are resource management games, with a little conflict, and that's what I'm looking for. If I wanted conflict with a little resource management, I'd be looking at a tower defense game. The Satisfactory previews look like No Man's Sky, on steroids, and it looks too busy.
That's just me, but my point is that I think the Factorio previews do exactly what they should: appeal to the type of people who want to play an isometric resource management game.
You might be right, that 3D does make it easier to make good looking trailers.
But iam not talking about Factorio vs satisfactory gameplay.
Iam talking strictly about the trailers, so much is happening is the 1.0 trailer and it looks fun.
Where as Factorio space age dlc have 2 videos. One is just showing the space platform. And the other is the spidertron running around, showing a already build base. And I was thinking if I showed this video to a friend that had not played Factorio before, it's just doesn't look very appealing compared to the satisfactory trailer
Something more comprehensive would be nice, and I bet that will happen closer to release. Assets are still being developed after all!
The 1.0 release trailer was pretty goo, but I can see how a trailer with a few more cuts could cover a lot more ground. The single-take style is reminiscent of game demos (which is how they're made too!), but it is a tad limiting.
Totally agree, I really hope they do something new for space age and potentially 2.0 if they want to market that at the same time as their dlc release
You're not wrong
