Hello, Reddit refugee here...I'm still wondering how to use Lemmy well, because it's not Reddit, but I keep on trying to use it like Reddit. So how do you use Lemmy well without being a lurker? And how are you unlearning your bad social media habits?

Thank you in advance

Surely you must have a favorite song / album / band, a favorite movie, an app, a hobby, expertise in some field, or just a good meme you saved on your phone? You are here, so it means you need and want connection. Just subscribe to as many communities that interest you (be sure to select All, not just Local - I'm writing for example from a different instance than yours), and one of them will apeal to you more. Lemmy looks like is in its infant stages, and there are a lot of posts encouriging interaction, like "What are you currently working on", "What's your favorite X and why", etc.

LE. You see, IRL you might not totally share all your interests with your friends / those around you. On the internet you'll find plenty of people liking what you like.

On Reddit, even after several years, I was still mostly a lurker. Others posted better content on large subs, and I only contributed with expertise in the niche ones. Lemmy on the other hand is in need of content. Share your knowledge and your curiosity. You won't even get the "welcome to... here are the rules you must obey" messages after a first post in a community, it feels more free, at least for the time being.
