If libraries didn't exist, and someone tried to invent them, I am confident that conservatives would fight them tooth and nail with a thousand bad reasons.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

One of the favorite and often mis-quoted lines for right-wingers. The context here is kind of funny, since it's basically pro-taxation.

I do like misquoting it though to promote privacy, but that has nothing to do with the actual context of the quote.
