I can see where you're both coming from.

My counterpoint:

The Oxford English dictionary has 171,476 words that are currently in use plus 47,156 obsolete words.

Websters Third New Internationl dictionary has 470,000 words.

Idk what to tell you, when more than one person has told you to stop using a word for x reasons - it really isn't that fucking hard to find a new word. Failing to do so, despite having over 170,000 words to choose from, makes you an asshole. Take it or leave it.
