Voting is used differently here than it is on Reddit. Here we have no useless karma reputation collecting. So voting serves the sole purpose of sorting posts/comments by relevance. I used the downvote on Reddit very rarely but used to upvote frequently what i liked. Here, i would vote less but use downvotes more.

On reddit I don't downvote users unless someone is purposely saying something hateful, but I downvote all the ads. It doesn't do much, but it does something and is a little cathartic.
