I didn't realize the moon was ever anything but just a dead rock floating there
The leading hypothesis is that the moon was formed when a massive asteroid smashed into the earth and blasted a huge chunk of the earth into space, and that became the moon. If true then the moon's birth and younger existence was wildly cataclysmic

Yes it's a joke, however if a mars candybar hits earth at 99.999999% of the speed of light, I'd imagine the impact would be anything but a blip
Which possibly hasn't even been fully digested yet.
