Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:
- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

What am I going to do?
Like, seriously, what specific actions can I take that will prevent this?
I'm going to need a lot more ammo, is there still a shortage? (Hey NSA, this is sarcasm)
Removed, advocating violence.
nah that's weak bro 🙄
Thems the rules! ;)
Removed, advocating violence.
So, here's the playbook:
They are going to try to challenge local elections to prevent certification.
What you need to do, as a concerned voter, is to be aware of your local process, from voting, through counting, to certification.
If you feel you're being disenfranchised because your vote is either not being counted or not being certified, you should be prepared to take legal action to halt their shenanigans.
Talk to your local elections officials, find out the process, and see if they have plans in place to deal with these challenges. If you have time, offer to help.
Reach out to your representatives and ask them what they’re doing about it, then tell your family and friends and ask them to reach out to their representatives
I want to know, too. And specifically, I want suggestions beyond just "vote."
Save up enough to bus/fly/train to the capital in case of a need to have people to oppose shenanigans.
If you're in a swing state get involved in vote counting.
Hope?
Is there a lemmy version of r/votedem? There is a large linked spreadsheet with volunteer opportunities (phonebank, textbank, postcards, data entry, etc.) - especially needed in the (unfortunately) few critical states that can tip the balance one way or the other.
Okay, I need you (and everyone else reading this) to understand something: all those normal campaigning things only matter if the resulting votes actually get counted and certified in a timely fashion. The entire MAGA cult strategy this election is to stop that from happening.
What I'm asking for are suggestions on how to counter that. It is time to stop pretending that this is democratic-norms business as usual, because it's fucking not!
I get it, the gop/maga will try to cheat and steal their way to a victory. They have already laid the legal framework and put sycophants in key positions in battleground states. The only way we can respond is to make sure the victory is undeniable in favor of Harris.
Now, if you are in one of those battleground states, you can be an election worker, including a vote counter to help maintain normalcy and call out problems to the media immediately.
Honestly, I don’t know (having not been more involved in the past with the election process) what else we can do. Sorry.
Encouraging everyone you come into contact with, using all online and IRL contact points, to vote blue!
