The Lemmy place to discuss veganism.

Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.

I'm caught in the middle wanting to play both sides of the fence. I don't like the reptile/amphibian shows with frogs and snakes crammed in a container barely bigger than a petri dish and I don't like the neglected animals in cages at pet stores. That industry definitely should be done away with.

Buuuuuuuuuuhhhhhtttt......

I also love them all and would love to be able to care for some of the ones that aren't able to be released into the wild when said industry is dismantled and destroyed, but in some way that gives them as fulfilling a life as one can have when forced into captivity. It's complicated.
