I would recommend wearing shoes in the woods at least. I was barefoot walking in my own timber (well, my folks, I can't afford timber :'-( ) and stepped on a very large black locust tree thorn. About an inch to two went in my foot. A few hours later was agonizing pain in my foot. Hadn't had a tetanus shot in a while, so one of those was given in the ER (only place open). Not a good time, 0/10, would not recommend. Only good thing was I got like 10mg hydrocodone. But honestly, I would have given that up to just go back in time and wear protective footwear.
Be safe, barefoot buddies
I do walk through wood/forests buy I avoid stepping into terrain I can't really see. The only bad thing ever happen to me was stepping into a group of mussels that were on a rock, underwater, they cut deep and the cuts were nasty.
