The DEI hire question. He turned on the person that asked the question to define it. She did.
DEI is just a dogwistle and from the mouth of a conservative it should be treated as a slur. They use it instead of using the wordt they want to say like c...nt, n...gger, sp...ck.. you name it. They corrupted and coopted the word and now use it as a stand in for all the words they cannot openly say.
She should have pressed him hard on what he meant with DEI.
You have an odd code of which slurs and swears to censor.
Edit: Honestly, I think you used underscores to replace the 'u' in cunt and the 'i' in the bad one, which italicized your words. Not sure why you wrote out all of the bad one though. I'm guessing you changed your mind half way through.
I updated my post. Wonderful to be called out like this. It was a mistake, I'm not american so the word does not carry the same weight for me, but I tried to be sensitive about it.
Given the nature of the topic and the mistake made, I thought it was funny, so I just tried to point it out in a joking manner. Perhaps my intention didn't translate well over text, which was why I also included the edit to try and explain how I thought it happened.
All good buddy.. it was indeed a very stupid mistake... By me!
No, fuck that. I'll continue using DEI as it was intended. To convey Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
If the fuckers want to use it as a dog whistle, be my guest. It's a weak-ass whistle anyway.
If it's not DEI, then it will be something else. I'd rather continue thinking of something positive when someone mentions "DEI."
"Oh, you're not the best for this job, you're a DEI hire" - "I'm quite capable and if they hired me because of DEI then ALL THE BETTER. About time for me to catch up to what's given to you for the same fucking reason (your skin color), asshole."
Replace DEI with awesomeness. "You didn't get the job because you're the best. You got it because they think you're awesome." - "Welp... I can live with that!"
That sounds reasonable to me. Just like a couple of black kids using the N word amongst themselves is different from some white dude using it. But I think it's also good people recognize when DEI hire is used in a derogatory way... And this is exactly what don snorleone did. Exactly like the lady defined it.
