Science is about the pursuit of knowledge. Greatest lesson learned here is to test your rockets laying down so if they accidentally detach, they don't potentially wipe out the nearby city.

That works for SRBs. Can't really do that with liquid-fueled boosters though, since the propellant has to be able to flow down. A mass simulator on top might have been wise, though.
