I once laser engraved "help I'm a banana" on a banana.
Death to non-compostable produce stickers. If lasers are what it takes, I'm all for it (not sure if that's really what's going on here though).
God I hate those. They constantly end up in the compost despite my best efforts. God only knows how many of them are part of the soil in my garden now.
Archeologists of whatever species comes after us will be excited to learn about your food choices
"Wow, they sure did eat a lot of stickers."
"We postulate that the stickers may have had some spiritual or religious function, possibly in hopes of a good harvest."
US produce stickers are straight-up edible. Even the glue is food-grade. How is any of that failing to break down in a trash jambalaya?
The stickers are usually either made entirely of plastic or coated in plastic so are not edible or compostable. I don't think the glue is edible either. Eating one won't hurt you, but it's possible eating glue residue over a lifetime might.
I can't find sources for that...as far as I can tell labels are food grade/GRAS/similar, but not necessarily digestible per se, and not necessarily compostable. Happy to be proven wrong though:

Not entirely sure what "edible" means tbh.
