Still no input parity with the Steam Deck. I guess I must be in a pretty small niche of folks that actually cares about that but there are certain games that would just be so much harder to play without all those inputs.
What does that mean?
The back paddles and touchpads, no one else has quite as many control options baked in
Exactly this. They are just so useful when combined with Steam input.
What's Steam input?
you get to bind a key to anyting basically
Ah, to replace/move things about? I can see the attraction.
That plus heaps more, it's extremely powerful. You can set up radial menus so flicking one of the sticks in a particular direction triggers an action, or holding down a button triggers rapid pressing to help with quicktime events. That's not even scratching the surface though.
People are super into this and create quite intricate setups which they share directly through steam so you can download a popular mapping for your favourite game and tweak it however you like.
For FPS games I like setting up regular joystick camera, and then configuring one of the touchpads to also be low sensitivity camera control + gyro. Once you get used to it, it feels real precise!
Ah okay. I rarely use the pads and never found a use for the paddles. What do you use them for?
