I honestly do not mind it one but. I quite like the interface. It’s minimal but there are some bugs to it which is to be expected. I really do like the overall design of it though. There isn’t too much going on. It’s like old Reddit which I am a big fan of

I would recommend reading the getting started thread that’s pinned to Lemmy.world. There’s a bunch of good info

I did read and I kind of understand how it works but some things are still confusing. If there's a Sweden on Lemmyworld, and another one on feddit.de wouldn't that split the userbase making no community as strong as they were on reddit?

Why not subscribe to both? This isn't a novel problem, why come up with a novel solution?

I have, but none of their content shows up on my “front page”. I was never the type of redditor that freaked through every subreddit I subscribed to, I usually just scrolled the main page.

But what I see now is a bunch of German stuff which Reddit filtered away from the front page.

I'll admit that I've noticed this problem as well. I'm hopeful that it's just because the communities are relatively small compared to what we're seeing on the main page, or perhaps it's a prioritization issue that just needs to be solved

That happened on Reddit, too.

For example, one of my favorite bands is called Elbow. There was a sub called Elbow and a sub called ElbowBand. Both about the band. One was more popular and people were able to find both and decide which they wanted to join.

In your case, instead it is [email protected] vs [email protected], people will see this and will decide which they will join. One will probably become more popular, but it will sort out.

Even on Reddit you had exactly the same issue for the same reason really.

Reddit had the same issue. Often there were multiple subreddits created for the same topic. Usually, eventually, one would win out. I expect the same thing will happen here.

Another solution on Reddit, of course, was to create a multireddit that included all of these subreddits. I'm not sure if that's possible on Lemmy at this point, but if not I hope it's something that gets implemented. It immediately solves that issue.

In the meantime, just subscribe to all of the similar communities.

Yeah I would think so but I would assume if one blows up and people understand that they can look at communities outside local then we can all figure it out and make it work
