I’m new to the city but I’ve noticed Denverites love to proclaim doom and gloom. It’s a perrenial “this city isn’t what it used to be when I got here xx years ago!”
I think that’s true wherever you go in most places. I think this is more a phenomenon that people are unaware of how much they have actually changed since they were more young and free…
“There used to be a lot more parties and downtown was a lot more fun years ago” …. Really means, “man I used to party so hard when I was younger but now I have a job and a family and I don’t have time for that anymore, and I also feel awkward when I talk to young people because I have turned into an old geezer who prefers to shout ‘get off my lawn’ with a raised fist whenever I see twenty something’s”
I do think there are more people around so places are probably more crowded and we have issues such as housing and other things that didn’t used to exist, and many bohemian types are being priced out of some areas and neighborhoods, but most of the time it is us who have changed in my opinion, and less so the city
But this is not what I’m talking about with this post. I just noticed like ten posts in a row were about accidents murders poisonings drownings and just death in general… there’s more to colorado than the latest murder conviction or freakish crime being committed
