Yeah but it's not on the left nor the top. It's more like "upper middle left".
Each one leads you to another step further and further. The last step tells you to look at the planet and not at the top left.

Damn I thought he was saying look at the upper right corner of his own room. That is a thing I always do- look at the top right corner, which is the farthest pint from my eye inside the room

In my experience it was always a finger, unless you mean something else by "down low".
