Trying out new method (self.quittingsmoking)
submitted 1 year ago by imrichyouknow to c/[email protected]

I will probably make a full post of my history dealing with quitting smoking in the future. For now I will line out a new method since the last attempt failed.

My last attempt involved around the so called "ride the wave" as when the craving happens I will try to calm my mind and go into a meditation state, this however has been proven to be ineffective when the craving becomes so overwhelming.

This time, I decide to fight proactively, with this new technique "talk back", when the craving happens I will ask myself "Why do you want to smoke, my Brain?". Knowledge is weapon, I have so many answers to combat any nonsense my brain will come up with, at least this is the theory.

I will keep this updated, see you soon.

Things are going well, patience is the key to not mess up.

I must admit I’m a drug addict, only then can I be prepared for the cravings and taking it seriously.

When I identify myself having a craving period, telling myself I have to delay and wait, given enough time, the craving will die down.

I can not for any reason inhale any nicotine, just one puff is deadly and all efforts will be wasted.

I'm hopeful this time, with no fear, no anxiety, to reclaim who I originally am.

One of the subreddits that massively helped me quit my smoking habit of 7 years was r/quittingsmoking.

It provided a very good support group where we were able to keep each other motivated.

Believe that people here on lemmy can make use of this community to support each other and try to get out of smoking.

Cheers!
