So someone is giving me a brand new 14900k. Basically it's a replacement because of the whole Intel Microcode Fiasco and my friend is, understandably, tired of Intel and switched to Apple M3.

I on the other hand, am gonna use this brand new 14900k. Since I got it for literally $0, I don't care if I get less performance than advertised. Heck, I don't even care if it ends up being as fast as a 12600k for all I care. I just really want it to work, and stay working.

That being said, my questions is this: Would it be enough to just install the 0x12b via bios flashback, throw the CPU in, and run everything at default? Or is there anything else I need to change in my bios?

And I guess if there's anyone out there like me who got their 14900k AFTER the 0x12b got released, sharing your experience here would also be welcome. I'm curious to hear how the chip performs after the fix.

Thank you.

I got a pc with an rtx 4060 and I already have a 144hz 1080p monitor, I've been thinking of upgrading the monitor, since i dont get to enjoy super high fps of 240hz or the visual sharpness of 1440p. Should I upgrade? And if so, what should I get?

So I’m someone who’s gaming experience has essentially been consoles my whole life. I’ve swapped back and forth between Xbox and PlayStation and something that made my decision final on PlayStation was the games. I love story based games and the exclusives imo make it worth it for me, I love TLOU, Spider-Man, Uncharted, God of War, as well as other non-exclusive games like the Resident Evil games, Silent Hill 2, etc. However lately I’ve been heavily considering getting a PC because I’ve always heard the experience was better and the graphics are better, but I don’t know of many games outside of the consoles. So what games would make owning a PC worth it? I want to expand my gaming experience so I’m open to most types of games except multiplayer shooters, but I mostly prefer games with story and some fun challenging gameplay
