Well 2024 was the worst year of my life. We found out my partner (38F) had stage 4 Cancer which has completely up ended our lives with me now being the primary carer for our 5 year old daughter and still working. I get very limited free time these days and what I do have I obviously want to spend with my partner.

I'd built my dream PC the year previous (Mini ITX/ 13900KS / 4090) paired with an AW3423DW OLED which I loved and mostly played PlayStation PC releases and COD. Now though every time I see it sat there unused it makes me sad so I've decided to strip it down (I'll keep the case and PSU) as its just losing value sitting there unused. Also I'm working from home 3 days+ a week now so I can help my partner. With 24 hours plus static desktop use on a OLED not being ideal that has to go too.

I was pretty down about eveything over new year. The only silver lining is I got £1500 for my 4090 FE.

Then my ever amazing partner turned around out of the blue and said why don't you get a Ps5 and I'll watch you play TLOU2 (she loved the show).

I managed secure a Samsung Neo G7 which will work nicely with no burn in risk and any other money I make from selling my PC will go towards family experiences and making memories while we can.

Not sure why I've posted this, perhaps it's my way of coming to terms with things? I don't know what our future holds but I'll miss the community and be back tinkering and upgrading one day.

All the best and wishing you a happy 2025.

EDIT:

Just wanted to say wow. I posted this feeling pretty low and the sheer outpouring of kindness from the community has genuinely brought a tear to my eye and offered me some comfort.

FINAL EDIT:

I never expected this kind of attention or posted with this huge response in mind I truely humbled. It was just a spur-of-the-moment post to give me closure. However, some amazing people have reached out and shared their advice and experiences, so thank you to them.

I feel compelled to respond when people are saying such nice things, but I also need to step away now. MODS, if you want to lock this thread for further comments, it will stop me from feeling guilty for not getting to eveyone.

Thank you to all. When things change for better or for worse, I will eventually be back. I've been building PCs all my life, so there's no way I couldn't return to the PCMR 😊

Soooo, i just upgraded from my 1080 to a 4060. But im having real problems after i got it

I barly notice any difference in performance inn games. If i want to watch any YouTube videos while playing minecraft, pc goes to the shitter. And simple games dosent perform right. Something just dosent feel right.

I reformated the whole computer, reinstalled the gpu drivers and nothing helped

About a month ago I upgraded my pc with a new mobo, ram, CPU, GPU and a new PSU. It’s been working like a charm until today, when I was playing some games with my friends and noticed my pc would freeze every 2 mins.

Suddenly it crashed and when I booted it up again, it said my CPU had overheated. I went into the bios and noticed it was constantly on 87c, no matter what.

Note: I’m still using the stock cpu fan that came with my previous mobo. Can that be a problem?

What I’ve tried:

-checked if my cpu fan was properly mounted. -replaced the thermal paste. -took the cpu out and in again to check if it was properly mounted.

After testing, I did notice that the temperature was the same even when I had disconnected the fan, but I don’t understand why.

Specs: Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B760-plus CPU: intel core i9-12900k GPU: RTX 4060 Ti RAM: Kingston FURY beast DDR5 5200mhz PSU: ASUS TUF gaming 850W Gold

Hey,

first time poster here.

I'm looking for an ergonomic office chair for my sister in law.

Some criteria :

Budget : 200-300€

As comfortable as possible

Needed for long periods of sitting (gaming, office work, etc.)

Has to carry around 175kg - 200kg

Needs good back support

Im pretty lost on this subject. So any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tomorrow I'm going to build my first PC and I wanted to know what mistakes I can make when assembling it as a beginner and how to fix them. I think I've chosen my components well and I'm not worried about that. A couple of recommendations would also help me. Thanks :)

So my 2080TI died and I had to go back to using my 2060 until I save up for a new GPU.

My question is, does anyone know the rgb numbers for the logo? I want to make the rest of my LED match it so it looks nicer.

Thank you in advance.

Hi guys i am building my first pc and i want to buy an air cooler that has Ram clearance, those two are the only models that gives that As for the CPU, i will probably buy a 9700x since i will mainly use my pc for gaming and a bit of CAD Also the Fuma has a 3rd fan that can be mounted at the end of the heatsink, do you guys have any experience with this?
