I saw a post referencing Lemmy's "obsession with beans" and it made me think of this.

Despite narwhals and bacon becoming something you say sarcastically to make fun of redditors for the past 10+ years, some users here tried to make "beans" the Lemmy equivalent and for a week or two, half the posts here were about beans....then it thankfully stopped.

Since then I've seen a handful of bean references but a significantly larger amount of references to bean references.

Beans were a blip in the Lemmy timeline and i's like gaslit us into thinking Lemmy is actually obsessed with beans. The posts/comments get upvoted but...where are the beans?

Just thought that was kinda funny.

I just realized that conservatives and Ubisoft is a marriage made in capitalism.

Ubisoft TL;DR:

Gamers should get used to not owning games and pay for subscriptions forever.

  • You'll own nothing and be happy.

“One of the things we saw is that gamers are used to, a little bit like DVD, having and owning their games. That's the consumer shift that needs to happen. They got comfortable not owning their CD collection or DVD collection. That's a transformation that's been a bit slower to happen [in games]. As gamers grow comfortable in that aspect… you don't lose your progress. If you resume your game at another time, your progress file is still there. That's not been deleted. You don't lose what you've built in the game or your engagement with the game. So it's about feeling comfortable with not owning your game.

  • Ubisoft's Director of Subscriptions: Phillipe Tremblay

Conservatives:

Trust me bro I read the headlines don't look for any other sources but if you do only look at the ones I tell you, vote for me the left is corrupt and woke, I didn't get bribes you're wrong that's just lies from mainstream media, ok these are friendly gifts but they didn't influence me.

  • You'll know nothing and be happy.
    • Ignorance is bliss.

From social movements, to political parties, governments, dissidents, and corporations, many groups engage in active efforts to shape media narratives. Media manipulation tactics include: planting and/or amplifying misinformation and disinformation using humans (troll armies, doxxing, and bounties) or digital tools (bots); targeting journalists or public figures for social engineering (psychological manipulation); gaming trending and ranking algorithms, and coordinating action across multiple user accounts to force topics, keywords, or questions into the public conversation. Because the internet is a tool, a tactic, and a territory – integral to challenging the relations of power.

This whole showerthought post came to me after I shower decompressed the unpleasant experience of one of my friends accidentally inviting over a conspiracy theorist for new years, again I will state that they didn't know until yesterday. I don't even remember what cursed line of conversation that led our nerdy group to have a lenghty and arduous discussion on war, education, and economics.

TL;DR:
Please only invite guests that you've known for at least a year.

This is a very interesting giveaway. To enter the raffle you have to donate at least $10USD to a good cause of your choice, anything, anywhere, and fill in the form to enter the raffle.

First time I've seen a "be a good person" give-a-way, I like the new spin.

I realize this might not be the most entertaining media, but its novel, and... i have no other place to share it.

CEO Shooter Used a 3D Printed Gun. Let's Talk About It.

A good, non-inflammatory, video about the 3D printed gun used, speculation on how the suppressor was affixed. I found it quite informative and interesting.

The speaker tries to be as non-political as possible, in this video. It's just a discussion about this 3d printed firearm

PSR is a YouTube creator who has specialized in 3D printed firearms for quite a while.

I just wanted to say, in case you didn't know, that E-6000 can glue a patch of denim to a pair of jeans well enough to survive the washing machine and heavy use.

I cut up one old pair of jeans to patch several other old pairs of jeans. One bead of glue around the edge of the patch, one bead around the edge of the hole I'm patching. Some wax paper made sure I only glued what I wanted to glue, and a stack of books on top of the patch for a few days let it cure in place.

They've survived several months of regular washing, as well as working outside with no issues.

“I never thought I’d say ‘$5 million for a banana’,” auctioneer Oliver Barker quipped as the bidding approached its climax. The banana displayed at Sotheby’s was reportedly purchased for 35c earlier that day.

Non-YT short mirror (however, I would really appreciate the YT algorithm engagement, while acknowledging it can be awful sometimes)

Disclaimer: this is old and was cathartic, I'm in no harm (at least we don't have that bot here).
