Del. Lorig Charkoudian (D-Dist. 20) introduced a bill to increase the annual compensation of county school board members to $124,000 by December 2026. The amount represents a roughly five-fold increase over members’ current pay of $25,000. The bill doesn’t propose officially making the positions full-time, according to a document of the proposed bill.

Started snowing today and this person decided it was a great idea to go 5 mph or under that even. If you can't at least go 30, get off the road.

What do you guys think of the most recent developments? I'm a little more than mildly infuriated myself.

Guy had a bond set for $103,000 on a homicide with intoxication case - I've seen small drug bonds go higher than this.

I know they were able to secure the funds for the bond using the stepdads appliance company.

He's out now - the best we could do was send him straight to a rehab facility. Atleast he won't be home for the holidays with his family. I know my son won't be.

I’m dealing with a really uncomfortable situation and could use some advice. I live in a block of flats, and for the past two years, my neighbor has been harassing me over small things, like my door being open. She constantly shouts at me to close it when she walks past, even though I’ve explained I just came in and forgot to shut it. She’s also made comments about not wanting to get food on her clothes when walking past my house, which I find completely unreasonable.

The situation escalated after I cut her off. We used to be friendly neighbors, but once I decided to distance myself from her and limit our interactions, she began harassing me. It’s been going on for a while now, and I’ve even had police involvement. They considered investigating her behavior, but I decided not to pursue it. Housing has sent her a warning letter, but things haven’t improved.

To make things worse, I have recordings of her threatening me in the past. She’s not just shouting at me about the door but also making unreasonable demands. I feel like every time I leave or enter my home, I’m walking on eggshells, worried she’s going to complain about something else.

I’ve tried to stay calm and ignore it, but it’s starting to take a toll on my mental health. People say I should just keep living my life and ignore her, that the videos would be in my favor if she reports me (she recently recorded herself loitering outside my window telling me to shut the door) But I’m not sure how much longer I can handle this, and I don’t want to escalate things unnecessarily.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What would you do in my situation? How do I handle this while protecting my boundaries and keeping my peace of mind?

I ordered some photography gear from a company (Moment) that I’ve been eying for sometime. It’s been over three weeks since I placed the order, and it has been a nightmare since.

A partial order shipment showed as shipped 2 days after purchase (Yay!) But later tracking showed the label was created and then canceled THE SAME DAY. No problem, I reach out to CS for an updated tracking number. No response for almost a week, mind you they have a chat feature on their website that just brings you back to email support.

I then get a surprise delivery of my package but the box looks like Randy Savage did an elbow drop into it. The next day, I get a message from support blaming delays on high inquiry volumes, and asking to confirm delivery. I also conveniently received two shipment notification emails with the same tracking number for my partial shipment that was in route and now my second unshipped shipment. Those items were not in the box received. After reaching out multiple times, I never received updated tracking for my second box and it’s been almost 2 weeks. Spoiler alert: that package is still MIA. I’ve sent emails with evidence, but it feels like yelling into the void.

FML All I wanted was my gear, now I just want my refund so I can end this torment. This was a holiday gift and it’s frustrating I’ve had to seek other options for resolution at this point.

My son is in grade 1.

Recently one of the parents in the class sent their kid to school with a Christmas gift for every kid in the class.

There are 15 of them.

I thought it was a really nice gesture at first, and we bought a gift for that kid as reciprocity, but then another family sent a gift. Then 2 families. Now all the families are scrambling to send gifts, and outdo one another. And they aren’t small gifts. Someone gave a beanie with antlers. Another gave a stuffy elf but with each kid’s name sewn into the back of it. Another gave a “12 days of cookies” advent calendar (which was really cool and thoughtful, but a lot of work). Some of those cookies also had his name on it. Meanwhile, my son thinks this is a normal practice and goes to school every day excited about what gift he’s going to come home with.

I care 0% about the cost. But it seems a bit much. I’m all for getting his best friends in the class something, privately, but not every single child.

Plus we’re trying to teach our son about the holidays not just being about gifts, but also about service, especially to those who really need the support. This just seems like consumption for consumption sake.

Am I wrong in thinking this is all unnecessary?

Or is this now a thing that happens in other schools?
