How the Nazis were inspired by Jim Crow

Toxic chemicals -- and Nazis -- are part of US border history

Next time someone tries to lecture you about how we "can't compare the US to Nazis," please tell them why they're wrong

"Thank God for Mississippi" is an adage used in the United States, particularly in the South, that is generally used when discussing rankings of U.S. states.[1] Examples include rankings of educational achievement, business opportunities,[2] obesity rates,[3] overall health,[4] the poverty rate,[5] life expectancy, or other criteria of the quality of life or government in the 50 U.S. states.[6][7][8]

Since the U.S. state of Mississippi commonly ranks at or near the bottom of such rankings, residents of other states also ranking near the bottom may say, "Thank God for Mississippi", since the presence of that state in 50th place spares them of being ranked last.[9] The phrase is in use even among state government officials[10][11] and journalists,[12][13][14][15] though occasionally with a slight modification

It’s preposterous that the flag of the most destructive proponent of western (mostly US) hegemony and imperialism is placed right there beside a pride flag with a peace sign!

Let’s use out combined power to stamp out this murderous, civilian-bombing and subjugating stain from the canvas (by extending the prideflag over it)!

It’s still possible that the Democratic Party leadership will pull themselves together and change course. Even if they do, the fact that it has taken so long already shows how dangerous it is to depend on them—or on any politicians.

My note on this: I don't find it very likely they will pull themselves together. I find it borderline impossible. Visit any liberal space, and you'll find people sticking their heads in the sand or making pathetic absurd claims about things Biden has allegedly "accomplished," which, if you scratch the surface, turn out to be misrepresentations or even complete fabrications. "Biden has forgiven student loan debt" -- for something like 0.01% of a select few from carefully chosen demographics, they won't say. "Biden has supported immigration under DACA" -- while deporting more immigrants than Trump and disseminating the "border crisis" myth, they won't say.

They're right about one thing: Biden has done a lot. A lot of irreparable harm. And as the article points out, this is not just about Biden. It's about our entire system.
