Hi guys kinda curious do you guys use lemmy's inbuilt image upload or do you guys use external image hosting like imgur?

Curious on your thoughts

I spent ~2 seconds looking for a post on this topic, and didn't see one, so if I missed it, that's on me.

A lot of people seem to be up in arms about Meta moving into the fediverse via a rumored twitter competitor called "Project 92". Obviously, this is more of a problem for mastodon than Lemmy, but since everything is connected here, it seems worth addressing.

So what is the FMHY position on this whole thing?

There are a lot of communities that were created in the last week but never had any kind of interaction or their mods never started to post to attract people (they don't even have rules or a description).
Will there be some kind of cleanup or will it stay there until someone asks to take over it?

I had subscribed several hours ago and so far only 2 posts have been pulled, with not all comments.

Completely unsure on what could be the issue and I have posted in the above mentioned instances meta community as it is most likely local. But I thought I should post here as well, in case anyone else knows the answer to the incomplete community pull.

Other communities from the FMHY instance appear to be fine. Here is the screenshot;

I sort by all and new and have seen a fair amount of posts from bots bringing over content from Reddit. A lot of it doesn't have much if any engagement on here and as far as I can tell even if there was it wouldn't cross back and forth between the two platforms.

The communities these bots are posting to seem to have a low amount of subscribers and with the flood of content it seems a bit like a ghost town. Almost like subscribing to the RSS feed of a subreddit.

I'm not up in arms about it. The posts are being made by only a couple of bots into subreddit specific communities (ex. AskReddit) and Lemmy gives you the ability to block communities so this isn't really showing up in my feed anymore.

The only possible issue I could see in the future is if Lemmy communities tried to link with a subreddit's. For example an instance's pc gaming community with /r/PCGaming.

I'm curious to hear how you feel about Reddit content automatically (or even manually) being posted here.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm having some trouble with logging into my account. I created it yesterday on my PC, using Firefox. I later tried to sign into the website on my phone and also my tablet, but in both cases, the Login button changes to a spinning circle and stays that way. There's no error message or page refresh or anything. I tried logging into the Jerboa app and it tells me my login is incorrect. I went back to the browser and tried to reset my password, but the forgot password link doesn't do anything.

I'm still logged in on Firefox, where I originally created the account, but I can't seem to log in anywhere else or reset my password, or even change any of the settings in my account. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'd really appreciate any help you all can provide!

My browsing experience on "ALL" has been a little frustrating. The feed currently works in a continuous update mode where dozens of posts from a community will suddenly appear and drive all of the content I was looking at further down.

From my understanding that's because other users are either subscribing, commenting, or viewing posts on that particular community causing it to automatically add itself to the FMHY feed?

Is this by design or is there a way to have the "ALL" feed update only when navigating pages?

Under every community there are stats showing how many users were active. "x users / day" "x users / week" etc. but my community shows 0 users for everything and I'm confused. Why may that be? Can anyone help me?

I'm talking about this community: https://lemmy.fmhy.ml/c/singularity

hello im a young adult and ive been wanting to sell/make money but i stink at everything and i have autism which makes things harder for me. etsy looks so cool, but they seem really overcrowed how are you even suppose to stand out on etsy?

ive know a few people who tried selling on etsy but they all failed and im afraid i might also fail, also etsy costs money to post on. are there alternatives or is etsy the best, also do you have any tips or something you would like to share about etsy?

also are there better places to post this at?

My “hot” and “active” page have been showing the same posts for four days. I only get new content if I sort by “Top of Today” or “New”. I’m subscribed to plenty of communities.

Anyone else have this issue or know what the problem is?

Hi guys I noticed when logging in recently a lot of my posts and comments where missing. Addistionally some communities including this one appear to be blank while logged in. Logging out I can see posts.

Does anyone else get subscribe pending when subscribing in another instance?

not sure if I'm even doing this right, but I'm trying to find more subscriptions. how do i search my own instance for communities to join? how do i look outside of my instance for communities to join? i feel like i knew how once, but now I'm lost.

i use jerboa, if that helps? TIA.

For example, with the influx of new users I'm sure this has been asked multiple times but i'm not sure how to search my instance or All/Subscribed to find it? (I'm on Jerboa)

I tried with different images, and I tried editing them to make them smaller. I even tried to see if it was an issue with png or jpg. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

How do communities work across servers? For instance, I registered my account on server A, and create a community named MyCommunity on Server A. Someone who's registered on Server B can access MyCommunity by going to !MyCommunity@ServerA.

Now if someone else on Server B decides to create a community also called MyCommunity on Server B, I could access that by going to !MyCommunity@ServerB.

My question is, with the MyCommunity communities ever sync across Server A and Server B? Or will they remain completely separated since they're on different servers? Will things posted to !MyCommunity@ServerA ever show up for people that have only subscribed to !MyCommunity@ServerB, or are these kept completely separate?

Hello, I decided to join Lemmy through FMHY as my main instance. I've been trying to add pathfinder.social to my subscribed instances using the search.

!pathfinder.social. But the instance won't actually show up. I tried on Jerboa. Then I tried through Chrome but the search brings up posts that have it as a topic but not the instance itself. Still very new to Lemmy so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong I'm just not sure what. I'd appreciate any advice.

Are there any tools that help me find alternatives to say, subreddits?

It's usually discord, but discord damages the open Web by locking content from search engines.

I'm using jerboa. Am I able to message users? I can't find a way to and wondering if I'm just dumb

Does anyone else notice how upvotes for some posts and comments are (for example) jumping from 20 to 150 votes and vice versa within the matter of 30 seconds? I am seeing that numbers for posts and comments fly all over the place within mere seconds. Is this just a result of heavy user traffic? Or could it be bots?

miss my crazy conspiracy homies. any good places around here for those kind of discussions?

What game and platform would you show them and why?

Keep in mind, this person's only experience with games would be arcade machines.

This is what I wrote.

Takes way too much time and energy, not worth it IMO.
