The Laser 200 (at least the one we used) seems to be a stripped 
down version of the computer also known as:

  * Salora Fellow
  * VZ200
  * Texet TX8000

The Laser 200 we used has only 4 KB RAM (including 2 KB VRAM which
is shared with the graphics chip).

How to run on hardware:

We haven't gotten our speedloader to work if stored on tape, but 
you may be more lucky with a high quality tape deck.

For the best retro experience you can burn the audio to a CD, as 
we're doing in the compo. You can of course also play it directly
from your state of the art computer.

Connect the left audio channel to the Laser 200, and the right audio
channel to your speakers. Making a custom cable may be a good idea.

Something a little bit different from ate bit at Breakpoint 2008

Hoping to put some fun and variety back in to the stale 64k scene..

Most of the code is actually written in Z80 and runs using a stripped 
down Z80 emulator. All of the esoteric features of the chip have been 
dropped - including annoying things like clock cycles and anything 
but the most essential instructions

The GPU (and other utility functions like maths and resource loading) 
are implemented in C and called through rst instructions. The audio 
comes courtesy of a version of VTXPlay, hacked to give six channels 
of sound. The original tune was created in Vortex Tracker. The 
graphics use a single OpenGL texture and are dumped there from the 
emulator cores memory every frame. The screen in memory uses a 
similar layout to that of a real Spectrum but without that bloody 
annoying interleaving of pixel rows

So this demo is a little bit unusual - it is essentially a tricked 
out emulator with a demo, all in 64k. But where's the fun in doing 
things the normal way?

Compatibility note :

Twinhead has been confirmed to work with both the Acorn internal (4 MHz) and
external (3 MHz) 6502 coprocessors. It was mainly designed for the 4 MHz copro,
but will run on the 3 MHz version, albeit at a slightly lower frame rate.

Compatibility has not been confirmed with any other 6502 coprocessors.

We advise against running Twinhead under BeebEm due to poor audio emulation.

I tried several encoding schemes for the read.me, but none really seemed to produce "proper" ASCII art, mirroring sites also had no clues, I wonder if something is hidden there, or this is just funky as intended.

Name: NAPTHA

An OoldSkool demo inspired by a live performance I attended and captured of "NAFT", a Belgian Live Analog Techno band.

The main song is based on "Paroxysm" by Naft.

Creator: Steffest
System: Amiga OCS
Runs on Amiga 500 with a 512kb memory expansion and beyond.
Amiga's with a harddisk can use the exe in the "harddisk" folder directly.

Released at RSYNC Demoparty 2025

Tools Used:

Graphics: 
Based on live footage from the band "NAFT"
Images where first sketched on paper and then produced in PhotoShop, including the Generative Fill tool, so I guess they are not AI free.
Images were finalized and pixel optimised in Dpaint.js: https://www.stef.be/dpaint/
Some chunky-pixel animations were taken from Giphy.

Music:
The main theme and some samples where lifted from the song "Paroxysm" by Naft using various stem-splitting tools.
The mod file was composed by hand using BassoonTracker: https://www.stef.be/bassoontracker/
The disk version of naphta uses a lower-quality compressed mod file to make it fit on a single disk and in 512k chip ram.

A big thanks to Wei-ju Wu for his YouTube series "Amiga Hardware Programming in C" which pointed me in a direction i could wrap my head around.
The blitter routines are heavily based on his examples.
Still bloody slow though... but boy, did I have fun.
Now I understand why everybody loves the Amiga Custom chips so much.
