Bear with me - I know what occured is fucking stupid, but I'm fucking stupid too.

I was watching a movie on my rig and accidentally knocked over a large beer bottle on the desk. A good amount didn't really touch anything important besides the mouse and some cables, but quite a bit managed to drip down into the tower that's mounted underneath the table on a shelf. It mainly affected the rear panel through the top fans, but leaked all the way down to the PSU shroud, touching the GPU in the process.

I immediately plugged everything off, removed the GPU and RAM, cleaned the obvious leaks and set the tower and the components in front of a pretty powerful fan to air dry. At least 24 hours have passed, I've got some isopropanol, brushes, q-tips, cotton swabs, an electric air duster and tried cleaning the residue. It's not really removed by the isopropanol apparently, especially where it's hard to reach among the capacitors and transistors. Cleaned the GPU and RAM in the same way, dusted them, cleaned the contacts that might have been affected.

It boots up and doesn't seem to be affected much, so far. But, since it was a carbonated drink that has dried on the surfaces, the contacts and traces - how likely are they to eventually succumb to corrosion and oxidation? Is there any mild contact cleaner I can use to prevent that?

Hello guys, I am currently using the BenQ XL2546k and I am mainly focused on Valorant.

I am looking into 2 monitors and I can’t decide which one to go for, the only difference is the one is 25” and the other one is 27”.

The one is: Dell AW2724HF Alienware The other one is: Dell AW2523HF Alienware.

Is it worth replacing 240hz for 360hz while sacrificing Dyac technology for better panel (IPS), better color accuracy and more hz?

My Ryzen 7 5800x3D pushes 500+ consistent fps on FHD, so there should be no answers about If I’m able to get enough fps.

Thanks in advance!

I can get a used 6700 xt for $200 USD- seems like a pretty decent deal. I know I won't max out settings, but does this card still perform okay for 1440p?

Image a case which can accommodate both SFX and ATX PSUs, and we can put any PSU in them (choosing based on noise, wattage, and such). What would be the difference if we put either one in it? Perhaps airflow, smaller PSU block less air?

After my recent post I've decided I'll just start a new build.

Browsing the market place I found a guy selling Radeon RX6700 XT. He's asking $200obo I can get him to $160-$180. The only catch is judging by the pictures it was clearly used as a mining rig.

My gut tells me to stay away due to heavy usage, save up and just buy new.

Have you guys ever bought a old mining card?

I'm still using an old build from 2017. GTX 1080 and R5 1600. I seem to be getting more crashes than ever, on many different games, and I'm running out of ideas and patience for figuring out solutions. I reinstall OS every now and then (this is just general hygiene for me). I think nearly every game I play experiences crashes. It happens nearly every day that I play games. I'm tired of it.

So I wonder if it's worthwhile building a PC around maximum stability. I know that new hardware tends to be relatively unstable, but also old hardware. Is there really much of a difference for hardware within the same generation? Is one brand more stable than the other?

Give me a spec list for the most stable PC and I'll buy it. I don't even care so much about performance or price. I want something that won't contribute to the growth of grey hairs over time. I have the money for a mid-high end PC though I am not in a hurry and I can save for something better.

Also are there other factors such as the OS and OS version? I will never use Windows 11. I use Linux as my primary desktop but Windows 10 proves to be much less of a headache.

Hello

Here is my current setup: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/p4jcZJ I mainly play Valorant and would like to play some new fps games like cod and doom.

Is it worth upgrading my current setup with a 5700x3d, a second set of ram and maybe a rtx 4060 or just make a new AM5 build with 7800x3d and rtx 4070 or higher?

Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone!

Do any of you have suggestions of a new 27" 4k monitor with not more than ca 60 nits on lowest brightness setting, with 144+ hz?

I prefer low brightness on my monitor for daily use, but I can´t find such 4k-monitor. They seem to be focused instead on high brightness, which I don´t want at all.

I would like it to be good for games, looking at youtube and office/prodctivity work. Accurate colors and as little as possible motion blur, ghosting etc. If this is achieved after manual calibration by the user, then it´s fine.

I do not need HDR, backlight strobing or loudspeakers in the monitor.

(Today I have the Predator XB271HU, 1440p 144hz with 53 nits at 0% brightness (I use 10% brightness). The monitor is good except ghosting. Would like to upgrade to 4k).

I very much appreciate all help you can provide. Thank you so much!

Best regards

When I built my PC I purposely put my GPU in one of the slots further away from my CPU thinking it would help with airflow. Turns out the PCIe slot next to the CPU (at least on my motherboard) runs 16x faster than the others. Struggled with fps issues for ~6 months before realizing.

Tldr, read the fucking manual

Hello everyone, I am thinking of building a pc to play inZOI, overwatch and mostly hoyoverse games. I am not pro competitive but I would love to build a good pc. My budget is around 1500 euro to 1600 euro.

I have these components in my mind:

-Geforce RTX 3060 VENTUS 3X 12G

-Intel Core i5-13600K 3.50GHz (Turbo 5.10GHz) 24MB Cache 14

-AsusTuf Gamıng B760M-Plus Wıfı Intel B760 Lga1700 Ddr5

-Corsair MP600 Core XT CSSD-F2000GBMP600CXT PCI-Express 4.0 2 TB M.2 SSD

-Corsair CX Series CX650F RGB CP-9020217-EU 650 W Power Supply

-Lian Li Lancool 205 Mesh as Base

-Rampage RM-550 23.8" 1 MS 144 Hz Full HD LED as Monitor

Do these components work good together? Can I have room to upgrade these in the future? What extra stuff I need like cables etc. ?

I don't know how to build a pc, so i will ask for help from someone who knows it. I would be glad to hear your opinions.

Hi All,

Quick question regarding RAM sticks:

I currently have G.Skill DDR4 Trident-Z 2x8GB 3200Mhz CL16 RGB (so two slots occupied). I can buy some G.Skill DDR4 Trident-Z 2x8GB 3000 Mhz modules for cheap (20 euros). Will they be able to work together? Or is it better to look for the same 3200 Mhz modules?

How about adding for example 2x 16gb sticks to my current setup, giving me a total of 48gb, is that possible?

I recently built a new PC and have been struggling to get my RTX 3060 to work. When install it in my new build, I get 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps, and I can't even access the BIOS. The weird part is, the same RTX 3060 works perfectly fine in my old PC, and my old RX 570 works in both builds without any issues.

Old PC Specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 3500
  • RAM: 2X16GB 3200MTÍS G.Skill
  • MB: MSI B450m PRO VDH MAX
  • GPU: RX 570 4GB
  • SSD: 1TB NVME SSD
  • PSU: 550W Cooler Master 80+ Bronze PSU

New PC Specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5900X
  • RAM: 4X16GB 3200MT/s G.Skill
  • MB: MSI B550 A-Pro
  • SSD: 1TB NVMe SSD
  • PSU: 850W Cooler Master 80+ Gold PSU

What I've Tried So Far: -Cleared CMOS multiple times -Set PCle to Gen 3 in BIOS using the RX 570 Updated BIOS to the latest version -Reseated GPU and all power cables

  • Checked both the 8-pin PCle power connectors for the RTX 3060
  • Tested the RX 57O in the new build, which Works fine
  • The RTX 3060 works without issues in the old build

Im out of ideas at this point. Could this be a motherboard compatibility issue with the RTX 3060, or is it something else l'm missing? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

TIA

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on updating my rig. However, I’m on a tight budget and will need to approach it slowly and sensibly. I’m also in the UK where prices are pretty high…

My current build is sff, however, due to price, I’m happy to go the route of ATX to save money.

Here’s my current set up:

B450i mobo Ryzen 3600x 16gb of 3600mhz DDR4 RAM RTX 3060ti 650w PSU

All in a nzxt 210i case.

So, what do I upgrade / change first? What’s a sensible approach? Should I sell it all except GPU and build from there?

Any advice welcome

Cybenetics give this Corsair RM750e model A- for noise, yet that model is being advertised with a worse "standard+" rating. What am I missing here?

Edit: added specs for Option 2 below and in replies. Also, thanks for the all the quick responses.

I know this sounds crazy because, if given the choice, the 4090 is technically better. I play at 1440p 165hz now but I plan on getting an OLED 1440p 300hz monitor soon.

So my issue is that I’m between 2 builds. They’re both 7800x3D but 1 option has a 4080 and comes with a better case/360 aio/overall airflow for about $1900: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RwFXXk. A friend reached out and told me they’d sell me their 7800x3D + 4090 for $2K but it comes in an NZXT H510i and fewer fans. I’d have to do some cable management and clean up the case but the benchmarks look good.

Here are the specs for Option 2:

// “MSI - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING TRIO 24G 24GB DDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card - Black

AMD 7800x3d

ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WiFi

G.SKILL Flare X5 Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL[hidden information]V Desktop Computer Memory UDIMM - Matte Black (F5-6000J3038F16GX2-FX5)

1TB m2

240mm AIO loop on cpu

Maingear 1000w power supply.“ //

I generally prefer the aesthetics of option 1. Woe is me, please help.

Computer Upgrade or New Build?

Current setup:

• RX 7800 XT
• Ryzen 5 5600X
• 32GB DDR4 3600 RAM

I’m planning to power a 1440p OLED monitor. Right now I am using an Ultrawide VA Panel with 8ms GTG.

The potential new build would be:

• RTX 4070 Super Ti
• Ryzen 7 7800X3D
• 32GB DDR5 RAM

I mostly play WoW, Warzone, Valorant, CS, and Diablo. Would the new build be worth it, or should I stick with upgrading specific components? Like a 5700X3D?

Let me know if you’d like to make any tweaks!
