Fair analysis in my opinion. Avs have 2C position locked up for remainder of prime championship window years. What do others think?

Kudos to Nate Dog! Much deserved.

It pains me to say it but:

  • Dallas was the better team
  • Avs didn’t get enough traffic in front of Ottinger like they did in game 5.
  • Duchene scoring the winning goal stings, but if he’s going to win a cup, his best chance is this year with Dallas. A Stars/Panthers final would be a physical battle for sure.
  • Avs won’t get the chance to beat Canucks or Oilers, which they could have probably besten
  • Parise not winning a cup is a bummer
  • Dallas impressed me with their energy in series after their 7 game series in round 1. Hats off to them.

Looking ahead:

  • team still has 2–3 year cup window if managed well and able to stay healthy
  • hopefully Landeskog can come back and be effective or great
  • As an Avs fan, I wish Nichuskin well but I don’t want to see him in an Avs jersey ever again. Too much of a risk and he has torpedoed two playoff runs in a row. Team needs to find a way to move him and use money to sign Druin or keep a healthy Landeskog on team.
  • Georgiev saved his career with solid play and earned the chance to stay in the number one role. Annunen looks primed for opportunity though if Georgiev falters.
  • Avs 4th and 3rd lines can be better with a full year of Kovalenko. Cogliano may have to leave or retire to open a spot.
  • I really like Middlestad in that 2C position moving forward.
  • If Avs and Landeskog can rest up and maintain their hunger, I still like their chances to compete for cups over next 2–3 years.

What do we think Avs fans? Are we looking at the team’s future starting goalie in 1–2 years?

Huge statement win last night against the Golden K-nig-its. Avs are humming and not even fully healthy. NHL is on notice.

The team is still working through its Jekyl & Hyde phase, but they turned it on again in the third period for a statement win against a good division opponent. The third line is arguably the best in the league and helped the team turn it around last night. Nichuskin seems to have found his game at a key time as well. The game against Vancouver should be another interesting test for the team. 🏔️🏒🤘🏻

Wake up Call (self.avalanche)

Well, last night's 8-2 loss to the Blues has to be some kind of wake up call for the team. Bednar said during the post-game presser that it was the worst he has seen the team ever play.

Classy Avs 👍🏻

10 Game Mark (lemmy.world)

So, what are our thoughts on the team at the 10 game mark? Mine:

  • Georgiev looks strong but still at risk of being overtaxed if played too much. Team needs a solid backup if Franky is out long-term or has played his last game as an Av
  • Drouin has been meh at best. Can he gel with MacKinnon or other players and earn a top 6 role?
  • Colton and Wood have shown flashes of what could be a great 3rd line but haven’t been consistent. Can they acclimate to Warren travel schedule and gel with rest of team?
  • Makar, he’s playing solid but can he stay healthy?
  • Byram has shown flashes but can he show more of his 2022 cup finals self that we all know is there?
  • Nichuskin has shown flashes of his peak abilities but recent performance has arguably been some of his worst hockey as an Av.
  • Team finding chemistry with new players both on the ice and in the locker room will be key to hit a stride going into the holidays.

With last night’s win, the Avs now hold the record. 👏🏻

Taser remains an Av! Definitely some risk at end of term but he is a smart player and will hopefully be able to contribute. This signing is good for the Avs current cup window in my opinion.

With preseason over and the regular season upon us, I just wanted to share my perspective that there is a special energy again around the team with players having a lot to prove for various reasons. Here is to good team chemistry and health throughout the season. If those happen, this team can go all the way again. LET’S GO AVS!

Storylines for me entering camp are:

  • How do Drouin and Johansen gel with team?
  • How much better is the third line of Colton, Wood and Tatar compared to last year?
  • Can Ben Meyers show he's an NHLer and take a hold of the 4C spot?
  • Can Malinski secure a top 6 or 7 D role and help improve an already solid D core?
  • What happens with backup goalie spot with Francouz looking at an extended outage?

What else?

Hi Avs fans! With camp starting I want to put out a call for a request for help with creating game day threads starting with the regular season. Could we get a few volunteers to step up to run point on this throughout the season? Looking forward to sharing what looks like it could be a special season with this community. Let's go AVS!
