Alright WcDonald's fans, here is the official press release with the details. Below are some of the tasty nuggets of information:

  • Participating McDonald's locations across the globe will sell "WcDonald's" themed products including an exclusive "WcDonald's Sauce", "WcNuggets", and manga-inspired packaging
  • There will be a short, serialized manga released as part of the event. Scan codes on the packaging to read new installments as they come out
  • Four independent, animated shorts will be made by Studio Pierrot. Each one will be a different genre: Action, Romance, Mecha, and Fantasy. They are summarized thusly:
  1. The Race to WcDonald's (drops Feb. 26): A rivalry strong enough to withstand the test of time as our two heroes embark on an epic race to WcDonald's.
  2. Love from Across the Booth (drops March 4): Our two protagonists discover the WcDonald's Sauce and WcNuggets aren't the only perfect pairing.
  3. WcNuggets Space Frontier 3000 (drops March 11): A team of WcDonald's pilots must protect the last WcNugget against an ominous force.
  4. The Wisdom of the Sauce (drops March 18): Three women are transported to a distant land to unravel the mystery surrounding the elusive sauce before it's gone forever.

Mine:

Fruits Basket (2019) S1 ED2

Chihayafuru ED1

Girls' Last Tour Song of Raindrops ED

Frieren ED1 and ED2

What's common on those four? They're all works of art with very emotional music.

My top favorite is that of A Place Further Than The Universe for personal reasons. I had a fulfilling trip shortly after watching this show for the first time. Hearing the song again/watching the show again made me very, very happy each time.

This was announced along with a new trailer for the movies. They will be shown as a double feature. The subbed versions will air on the 24th while the dubbed versions will air on the 25th. Tickets go on sale February 23rd. The two films adapt the eighth and ninth volumes of the light novel series. If you aren't familiar with the series, here is the synopsis of the first season of the show from AniList:

There's a rumor about a mysterious phenomenon called "puberty syndrome." For example, Sakuta Azusagawa is a high school student who suddenly sees a bunny girl appear in front of him. The girl is actually a girl named Mai Sakurajima, who is Sakuta's upperclassman who is also a famous actress who has gone on hiatus from the entertainment industry. For some reason, the people around Mai cannot see her bunny-girl figure. Sakuta sets out to solve this mystery, and as he spends time with Mai, he learns her secret feelings. Other heroines who have "puberty syndrome" start to appear in front of Sakuta.

I couldn't really find too many details about this other than it is coming out on Feb. 26. Not sure the platform, but I am guessing it might be a series of short episodes either released to youtube or twitter.

We have officially hit the halfway point through the Winter 2024 anime season with most shows having aired at least 6 episodes and several already with their seventh behind them. I want to hear what your impressions are about the season so far. Any shows surprise you? Disappoint you? Exceed your expectations? Like every week, this is also a general discussion thread, so feel free to post general questions/discussions as well.

As always, remember to be mindful of spoilers. If you want to know more about how to handle spoilers in this community, check the guide here (also linked in the sidebar).

Linked tweet is the official account for the anime. This is a delay from the previously planned premiere of April. There isn't any word on the cause for the delay other than to "make it more enjoyable for everyone." That could mean production issues, but it could also be that they are not looking to compete against the lineup of other shows in the Spring season, which is pretty competitive.
