You might have seen this post of mine a few days ago. Now, I don't know if this is the same bunny or not, but after moving my car, I noticed that the bunny was laying down on the grass near my car. At first, I thought this was odd but likely just "bun resting time." Then, I noticed that flies were going all over it and it was in obvious distress.

There was a big gash in its side and fur all around the area. Something had attacked it near there. I called animal control and tried to keep the flies away to keep it as comfortable as possible. Sadly, the bunny died while I was on the phone.

I feel bad that I couldn't save the bunny, but I doubt that there was anything that could have been done. At best, had animal control arrived, they would have likely euthanized him.

RIP Bunny!

My 13 yr old mixed cocker spaniel is not doing so well. I feel like he is not living his best life. He has developed several issues in the past couple years that impact his QoL. I'm worried how to deal with his buddy an 11-12 year old mixed shih tzu. I do not want him to get depressed nor do I want to get a new dog just to replace him. I'm open for suggestions. Thank you. I also told my older sister to not get me a new dog as she has a habit of doing so lol.

Her name is Lola and she is quite tolerant of shenanigans.

She was a tiny little thing, barely the size of my pinky nail. The movement of her jumping was the only reason I spotted her on the asphalt. I considered tossing her down into a treatment pit where I could hear her compatriots croaking, but I knew their time was limited, as the whole area was scheduled to be demo'd.

Having always wanted a pet frog as a kid, I did a quick check to make sure I hadn't just grabbed an endangered species (nope, most common kind of frog in southern California), and decided to take her home with me.

Fun fact, the distinctive "ribbit ribbit" heard in movies is the call of the Baja Tree Frog.

This bunny lives near my house. It was up against my neighbor's house avoiding the rain. We think there's a bunny warren right there with some baby bunnies. I just wanted to pick up this cute bun and cuddle it, but I knew that it would run away. (And, besides, it's usually not a good idea to cuddle wild animals.) It was sitting there for quite a few hours before vanishing, but it will be back I'm sure.

A Ruby-crowned Kinglet (Corthylio calendula) perches on a tree branch on a cool Fall's day, staring down the camera head-on.

Ruby-crowned Kinglets are tiny and energetic birds, although this specimen had the good manners to pose for the camera. The namesake ruby crown is a feature of male specimens. Their crown is typically kept down and discrete, flaring up when excited. The crown of this specimen, if even present at all, is unseen.

head-on pictures of birds always delight me. lil' dude's got what looks like furrowed eyebrows and a frown. i took their picture months ago and i still can't get over them. it's that angerey face 😡.

I'm fairly confident in their identification. Front facing birds can be a pain to narrow down, but I have a profile shot of them that gives enough identifying details for me to have more confidence.
