Join us for beautiful pics of auroras, reindeer teeth trivia, and grousings about grocery prices! Whether you’re a born Norwegian, immigrant, tourist, or just think reindeer are cute, this is the place to be.

Hei venner!

I hope this post does not break the rules, last year I ran Lemmyvision a song contest on Lemmy, and I'm excited to announce that the second edition is now live! You're invited to participate by sending a song in Norwegian, or a regional language / dialect from any part of Norway!

For those not in the loop, here's how it works:

TL;DR

  • From right now and until April 1st, discuss with your country’s community on Lemmy about which song to send to the contest.
  • Submit the song in this community by makign a new thread.
  • On April 2nd, voting will begin, where you will rank your favourite songs in a form. Any song not submitted by this date will not be featured.
  • On April 8th, results of everyone’s favourite songs will be published.
  • You can use [email protected] for any question, this will be the community for updates and results, make sure to subscribe if you’d like to stay in the loop.

You can find all the information needed on this post : https://jlai.lu/post/15932635

Cheers!

The Fiscal Policy Rule is meant to ensure that Norway’s oil fund fulfils its mandate of providing for future generations. Yet a closer look at the principles governing its management shows that it may run out in two generations or less – unless the rule fundamentally changes.

Part 1 here

As you can tell if you watched Pt 1, Norwegian police have a tendency to play favourites...

Police translation at end: "Lay still, lay still. You touch the gun, I will shoot you in the head. Don't touch the gun!"

--

Context: Gunman had robbed a jewellery store and shots had been fired, so they were considered high-risk.

  1. Reindeer noses really do glow red

Whilst not all reindeer are called Rudolf, their noses really do glow red. Their noses are full of blood vessels in a very unique structure which warm up the cold air they inhale. This keeps the reindeers warm on the days where the air temperature can drop to -40 degrees Celsius in their native habitats in Siberia, North America and the Arctic.
