Welcome! I've been using the offical SoulseekQT client pretty much forever, occasionally (and always very briefly) giving Nicotine+ a spin. I use Linux, but I actually use the Windows client with Wine because the native Linux client is somewhat less than optimized, to be very diplomatic. I also changed the UI quite a bit to match pretty closely to my system. As of today, I'm also trying out slskd, and liking it a lot.

Yeah, it's super finicky, It also took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to download from the search results. This is cool though, I'm really stoked I finally got this working!

I had tried to set up slskd a month or two ago and was on the verge of tears trying to get it configured. I decided to give it another go, and it actually seems to be working now! We'll see once it gets my files indexed, but the fact that it even found my files is progress. So, uh, thanks for reminding me!

And yeah, it will absolutely be a game changer for me as well. I can't leave my laptop running all the time, but my raspberry pi is a different story.

I know that a lot of people prefer Nicotine over the original Soulseek client. While it's definitely more stable (especially on Linux) and arguably more attractive, I've always switched back to the original client because Nicotine gives me way fewer search results, and I've noticed that a lot of my "regulars" don't show up in my uploads list.

Anyone else have similar experiences? Any tips for making Nicotine work better?

Maybe I'm just built different because c-diff doesn't affect me that much. For me, it's melena, because I literally still smell it for hours after my shift has ended.

Also, while maybe not the worst smell, one of the somehow more disturbing ones was when an intestinal blockage patient belched and it smelled like a fart... which basically it was.

Kidney stones. I've passed three of them and the last time my wife called an ambulance because I couldn't get off the floor. Think I'll go drink some water...

Yep, the error occurs in Liftoff and Thunder, but Jerboa works.

Great idea! I managed to subscribe from my instance, but I keep getting this error: net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED. Am I doing something stupid?

There was a fake Soulseek website that popped up at one point (www.slsknet.org is the official website). The original (NS) client and network are now deprecated in factor of the newer QT client. Development is slower and the userbase is smaller, but very much still existsd!

I should probably mention at this point that this community and I are in no way affiliated with or speak for Soulseek.

A community to discuss and get help with using the Soulseek peer-to-peer file-sharing network.

Welcome! (lemmy.fmhy.ml)

I realized today that I've been using Soulseek for 20 years now, and in honor of that and all the music I've discovered in that time, I decided to create this community. So, without further ado, welcome, and share what you can!
