I recently had the same “itch” for something new. I really wanted the Z8, but also really wanted a 600mm prime, couldn’t do both. I got a great deal on a 600 and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. It brought new life to my D500 and is a blast to use. A zoom lens will broaden your horizons to your already good camera. JMHO
