These (and canned tuna) are good for croquettes - I've been making the tuna version for years. They can also be used for an easy stuffing for savory pastries/hand pies like samosas

Beavers can be a great help in restoring wetlands. They're being released in California to help stop wildfires as their ponds are natural firebreaks...unfortunately when they build around humans it doesn't always work out. They've been known to flood neighborhoods and wash out roads.

I saw a documentary a while back where they were washing out roads (in Canada IIRC) by damning up the drains that run under the roads. They just have a built in need to stop flowing water. Instead of killing or re-locating the beavers, the guy being interviewed realized if they laid out a secondary conduit (large hose) in the drain, the beavers could damn up the drain but the water would still flow from one side of the road to the other. If I can find it again I'll post it

Baby beavers have been born in urban London for the first time in more than 400 years, a conservation project said.

The family of Eurasian beavers were introduced to a nature reserve in Ealing, west London, in October as part of a project that aims to get the public to engage with nature, to study biodiversity improvements and to monitor flood mitigation effects.

Project leaders said the fact that at least two babies, or kits as they are called, had been born on the Paradise Fields site in Greenford showed the beavers were "happy" with the habitat.

Dr Sean McCormack, one of the volunteers behind the project, said he and the other volunteers were "totally over the moon, thrilled, excited".

I was just trying to share a story I found positive, and made me feel good. I had no idea grazing sheep was such a controversial topic 😃

I guess I'll have to scrutinize any future post I contribute

That's true, but they are more efficient and cost effective than running gas powered mowers around solar panels. The added bonus of not needing to purchase feed during parts of the year is also a nice plus

The largest solar grazing project in the U.S. will reduce mowing costs and emissions — and make for some happy sheep.

From this article it sounds like he's one of those religious nuts trying to force their views on everyone. He probably starts off every conversation with "well, you know, as a Christian."

It's never about religion with a POS like this, it's almost always about control. Hopefully the lawsuit gets tossed before it costs the school district too much money, and he can go work at a religious school where his views will probably not cause waves

Pretty sure that's what they do. When I was school most teachers had trouble pronouncing some names, so they'd just ask us what we preferred to be called, or how we'd prefer our names to be pronounced and they'd make a note.

Most kids had nicknames that they preferred to use anyway, so that's what how they'd be addressed. All official paperwork had the given name, but their friends, and teachers would just refer to them by the name they preferrred...which is why this whole name situation is just baffing to me. I'm guessing they didn't renew his contract for other/additional reasons, this is just his way or trying to hit back

pizza fried rice bean and potato soup chimichanga gyro

I put it on basically anything that's fatty/greasy. I feel it helps to balance out the flavours with the right amount of acid

I've been using a pair of scissors to cut my spagetti, a knife would probably be way easier to clean. Thanks for the tip, I'll let everyone know how it goes!

I used to watch this on PBS in the 90s, it stars Lenny Henry. If you liked 'The Bear' I think you may also like this.

Someone has posted clips from various episodes (just so you can get a taste):

In an effort to redeem myself I was going to post Island City (1994), but Dr Wesker beat me to it by about 2 months. So I give you Bablyon 5 (1993-1997) , S01 intro.

I remember seeing the pilots for both B5 and Island City on UPN(?) on the same day

I have an old Synology 1819 NAS that was the unfortunate victim of the Intel Atom/Clock bug. I would like to repurpose the case as I like the compact form factor. Has anyone tried replacing a synology mobo with something else (ex: an ITX board or a Raspberry Pi), and using an alternative operating system?

Please forgive me, of the many things I've forgotten...this is...one of them. I could've sworn there used to be an updated rolling sticky with 3-4 (maybe more?) build suggestions from 'meh' to 'super ultra mega I can't afford space kraken' posted and maintained by people way smarter than I am, somewhere on the main page/sidebar of PCMR.

I've got a ~6 year old mini-ITX AMD build that I'm hoping to replace with something similar, and I'd used those suggestions last time with great success. I'm hoping to build something that'll last another 6 years. If anyone has any idea what the heck I'm talking about, I'd appreaciate you pointing me the right direction.
Thanks in advance!
