It’s not the “common cold” which usually refers to bacterial infections.
The illness we consider the "common cold" is actually a collection of common viruses, predominantly rhinovirus. It's not a bacterial infection.

This is not a great diet plan. Liquids aren’t as filling as solids, can be consumed quickly, and digested faster. Plus, this plan leaves you dependent on shake makers/brands instead of managing your own diet.
Also, diets don’t work, stop calling it that. Diets are temporary things. A real T2 mitigation plan will require permanent lifestyle and dietary changes, including some sort of exercise regimen and reducing carbohydrates intake and increasing fiber intake to promote fullness and help reduce cravings between meals.
Lastly, I wish these articles would stop suggesting you can reverse (as in cure) type 2 diabetes. There is no cure currently, only lifelong management and control.
Source: I’m a well managed type 2 diabetic for 12 years, in good health and fitness level.
This is a terrible fucking day to have eyes, apparently.
Same. I was very impressed by the games that work despite being unsupported. Heck, I’ve got Rainbow Six: Vegas working on it with gamepad support. I couldn’t even do that in Windows.
Give me more of this and less of the politics. This is what I come to Lemmy for.
Don’t be. I’m fortunate to be able to afford it comfortably, and it’s just part of the cost of living to me. In my 40s now and been wearing glasses since I was 10yo.
I’m just happy I’ll be able to read fine print and see stuff close again without needing to take off my glasses.
I recently went for glasses and eye exam. Near sighted with astigmatism, and now I need bifocals on top of it. Bifocals with line aren’t common now so doctor suggested progressives. I’m fine with that.
I’m also a special kid who can’t wear polycarbonate lenses because I’m hypersensitive to chromatic aberration. So need Trivex lenses as well. Throw in an anti-glare coating and my cost (with insurance) is like $460.
The sad part is given my needs and how few carry Trivex in my area, I consider it a decent deal.
Yeah, but JIF is like… sugar and palm kernel oil garbage. It’s a peanut butter product, not peanut butter.
Peanut butter should have one or two ingredients, max. Peanuts, and maybe salt.
I mean she’s not dem leader anymore. I know she still represents CA as dean . I just find it strange I’ve seen so many articles mentioning her as though she’s still in charge.

Edit - and now the recent articles claiming Obama wants Biden to step down too, which is supposedly conjecture and hearsay. It all reads like a hit campaign of known democratic leadership names, and it seems really odd how little coverage there is of the various democratic representatives in full support of Biden.
Regardless of what Biden does or doesn’t do, what is with this Pelosi kingmaker bullshit, and why does she have so much standing and influence despite having retired?
DNS is often misconfigured.
On the linux side of things, people like to manually edit /etc/resolv.conf when it's actually a symlink and changes to it don't persist on boot (the real file location varies, but it's usually in something like /etc/system/resolve). And forget bind9, if it's not MS DNS it's not DNS to some folks.
On the Windows side, people love to ignore that reverse DNS exists, even though so many things use it. They also freaking love CNAME aliases and break stuff in interesting ways (for example, a "load balanced" configuration that's all just the first node acting as all three nodes of a cluster or pool).
Many people only know enough DNS to be dangerous and come up with really jank workarounds to get things running because they don't understand the proper solutions.
