I have found mechwarrior 5 to still capture the classic feel, myself. I have a few mods on though, the mech customization made me sad until I opened it up.

Really want clan mechs in there though. Due to my mechwarrior 2 background, it doesn't feel right to not have image enhancement.

My chili has won over many carnivores. I've been making it like this since before I was plant-based, it's just better than my meaty chilis ever were.

It's not a recipe though. I just kind of make it until it looks right. Kinda like this:

  1. Cook about 400g of beans overnight in the slow cooker. I usually go for about half-and-half kidney beans and black beans. Add a couple bay leaves and a couple dried chilis, if you swing that way.
  2. Drain the beans and put 'em in the slowcooker.
  3. Chop and sautee 1 onion, 6 mushrooms, and 1 carrot (maybe a stick or two of celery as well) in a splash of cooking oil until the onion is starting to brown. Dump them in the beans.
  4. Add a can of diced tomatoes, 1-2 chopped bell peppers, 4 crushed garlic cloves, maybe some niblet corn if you like. I like hominy in there but my family doesn't, so I just suffer in silence.
  5. Add vegetable broth until it's roughly a consistency you like. I like my chili pretty thick, my wife likes it a bit more soupy. I guess between 2-4 cups.
  6. Add 1/4 cup of chili powder (make sure it's not a spicy one unless that's how you roll), 1 tbsp cumin, 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp oregano
  7. The secret ingredients! Put 1/4 cup walnuts and 4-6 dried shiitake mushrooms (available at most asian food stores) into a blender, pulverize them, add to the mix. Add about a tbsp of soy sauce.
  8. cook on low overnight, or even longer. Better the longer it cooks.

You can also add diced jalapenos, or a bit of cocoa, or ... tons of stuff.

Generally speaking the folks here are right, you should be able to maintain veganism unless things go really sideways. I'd recommend getting in touch with a dietician though if you're really worried (not a nutritionist, different beast) and having them go over your plans. Iron deficiency is a particular risk, one that can be easily surmounted as long as you're aware of it... Way harder to keep iron up when pregnant even than usual, and it's already tough as we all know.

It's most likely federated, but there is some weird caching thing where if nobody from your instance has ever looked up a particular community on another instance, you can't see it right away.

You should be able to at least view it through a permalink like this:

I wouldn't put it quite as harshly... But I also don't understand the attitude at all. This fella is demonstrating one of many reasons I don't call myself vegan.

I know most vegans aren't like that though, or I wouldn't have reached out. Folks, I just want to talk about chickpeas. I really think they're neat. All the downvotes and hostility won't change that. They're still gonna be neat.

I hedge because I don't share your philosophy, so it wouldn't be accurate to claim I was entirely vegan. I'm less rigorous about checking labels or avoiding cross contamination with non vegan members of my household, mainly. I'm plant-based, not a vegan, but you could eat any recipes I plan to share on my recipe community... I just don't want to talk philosophy with you, and you're showing off why that's the case very well.

Can we not just trade recipes? Why do you feel the need to accuse me of animal abuse for not wanting to adopt the label that you're making look so appealing with your honeyed words?

Edit: I should not have phrased that last paragraph as a question. Please do not feel obligated to respond. I genuinely don't care what you think.

Actually, as I've said like four times in this thread, including in the original post, I am essentially a vegan cook. I just don't ascribe to vegan philosophy. That's why my posts in my community have been primarily about things like using chickpea water as egg substitutes, and making crispy beans, and why I'm inviting vegans to share recipes. It's not like I've hidden this detail either.

You're kind of demonstrating one of the reasons I don't ascribe to veganism here.

Haha oh shit I forgot about the tekwar game. The fact that it was build engine too, the most awkwardly timed engine ever.

I don't know, but I'd sub to a plant based community, anyway.

I suspect because it's a small community still, your instance hasn't cached it yet. Now that you've searched it, it should show up soon

I prefer to think of it as very thorough recycling.
