my ubuntu 22 AWS VM only got 6.2 in september, and I haven't rebooted yet so it's still on 5.15. probably tons of desktops and servers are still using < 6.2

Whoever reports this "anonymized" data still knows something about you, whether that's a census employee at your physical house, or a website having your IP address. We can't stop that information falling into the wrong hands. Bad actors are everywhere. All we can do is not provide the information in the first place.

I know that GUI does not cover most of functionalities

specialized to task

Yet, I find that there are common commands

present them as buttons

Congratulations you just reinvented the GUI while trying to get away from it at the same time.

Perhaps something a little more "in-between" the two might be a GUI that allows running arbitrary programs... something smarter than a launcher but more generic than a purpose-built function-limited interface... if such a thing can even exist.
