Is the list of blocked instances available to view somewhere? It'd be nice to know which instances are currently blocked on Kbin.social

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Totally understand the reasoning and honestly I wouldn't be shocked if most if not all that content still exists somewhere. I would be shocked if some fan somewhere hadn't backed it up at some point like with the Wendy's one shot

Upvoting this from the Artemis app! These are all super cool, I especially love the Artemis ones

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

That might be it, though still strange to downvote something you don't like instead of just ignoring it lol But it is the internet though so I guess it's to be expected haha

Right? I keep seeing that every once in a while and am like "why are you downvoting a cute picture of a cat in a community for pictures of cats?!?"

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Uwwaahhhh! They're so cute! I love their little face!

It always annoyed me how the ads were formatted to look like posts, always felt like they were trying to trick people into clicking on it (which honestly that probably is the intent). Feel the same way with ads on Twitter. It's one thing to show ads and another to format them to try and trick users into clicking on them

Judging by the comments it looks like all the extreme emoji haters are the toxic people who refuse to leave Reddit. I love that for the most part the people that left Reddit and are active in Kbin/Lemmy aren't the super toxic ones that frequented Reddit, it's really a breath of fresh air

I have gone ahead and made a Kbin equivalent of the r/nervysquervies sub. This was a very wholesome sub all about animals with neurological conditions being adorable. There is also an educational aspect to it and helping people understand and learn more about these conditions.

If you have a fur baby (Or other animal!) with a neurological condition that you feel would fit come on over! Posting pictures or videos of others is fine as long as you properly attribute the owners (Don't post others pets and act like they are yours)

Rules are the same as the subreddit. It's empty right now but hopefully we can spread the word and get some sweet content of these amazing animals!

If the lemmy search doesn't work try searching the full kbin url and that should make it pop up

It was sometimes used for posting, like you had to have a certain amount of karma to post in certain subs

He talked about it on the polish instance. Someone accused him of some serious stuff and he explained where all the naming came from in the comments: https://karab.in/m/fediverse/p/217281/The-reason-for-the-strange-naming-and-uncomfortable-images-on#post-comment-311421

What's dumb is reputation doesn't even do anything on Kbin right now other than make you go "haha I have higher number than you" so reputation farming is a total waste of time. Personally I hope it stays that way as it will deter the farmers, I can see some of the benefits of the karma system in Reddit but it's just too prone to manipulation to be actually useful in any way.

Hello! I'm not the moderator or author on this (Just a fan!) but wanted to help get the word out as it's one of my favorite webcomics and I wanted to make sure it gets enough traction so the author keeps posting in the Fediverse. This is a fantastic fantasy themed webcomic, the author just started posting in the Fediverse in addition to their normal avenues so go and have a look! They just posted the prologue and will be posting the previous chapters in the coming days, then once it's caught back up the updates are on Mondays and Fridays.

(I think the exclamation mark searching is broken right now but if you search for the full url in lemmy it should come up.)
Also as usual with federation old posts wont show up so you'll probably have to go to the page on kbin.social to see the first post.

I've noticed this when searching for a few differemt Lemmy communities on different instances where it will load for a second and then nothing happens or it will reselect the text box. Normally if Kbin can't find the community it will say "nothing" but there are certain communities that don't even show that, almost like it can't load it. Is this an issue of the instance I'm searching for is having federation issues? Or is it something on Kbin's end?
I've mostly seen it with communities from lemmit.online but I've also seen it on a few others. I know Lemmit was having some issues but they were supposedly fixed (but they still aren't showing up), and I've started seeing that search error happen with a few others instances now too

(Also for clarification I am talking about the main search bar not the magazine search, these are communities that I'm trying to start the federation on Kbin but they aren't showing up on the search)

For those that don't know, the subreddit r/Catsubs was made as a directory for all the many cat subreddits on reddit as well as a way for searching for different cat related subreddits.
I was noticing that more and more cat communities/magazines were popping up and it was getting tricky to find them all so I thought I'd recreate the Catsubs directory on Kbin!

This is unaffiliated with the subreddit, but I did talk to the subreddit mods and get the go ahead as they don't currently have any plans for leaving Reddit.

I already have a pinned comment with all the cat communities/magazines I've found with a kbin.social link as well as the search link for Kbin and Lemmy for those on different instances.

Also anyone is welcome to make a thread if you are either looking for a cat community/magazine or if you find one that I don't already have in the directory.

I'm still working on it but the basics are all good to go so come on over if you are looking for more cat communities/magazines!

Is there a way to set up an RSS feed to get notifications from Kbin? The current issue with the notifications is that they are contained completely in the site so you have to actually check the site for the notification. On mobile I'm using an app called Hermit to use the mobile site and it has an option to set RSS feeds for notifications so if there was a way to make an RSS feed of my notifications I could get push notifications on mobile. Any insight would be helpful!
