It's amazing that spez saw what Musk did and thought, "I should do that to Reddit."

Reddit was a living thing. An ecosystem of interaction which was so robust it frequently generated content that was useful in Google search results. The shitposts were essential to that ecosystem. There were also bots, which is inevitable.

That ecosystem has collapsed.

But I asked a question!

You're not being cruel to the "garbage trash instances," you're being cruel to your fellow Lemmy-users who you accuse of "whining" as they express their opinions about federation.

I forgot about them. I didn't know they were FOSS. Is F-Droid primarily for nerds and programmers? Or do normies also use it? I stopped working on Android apps because I don't want my hobby to be subjected to the whims of Google's acceptance criteria. But maybe I could publish to F-Droid instead.

What kind of FOSS software can you get for your android?

At this point I only pirate media that I can't find through legit means. I think it's honestly hilarious that they don't just make every movie or album available to purchase and download without DRM, since that would be the best way to combat piracy.

I pay for what I can, but I'm also a big Linux user who loves FOSS software. Adobe can get bent. I use Gimp, Krita, and Audacity/Tenacity.

Microsoft can also get bent.

100% We need more irreverent nonsense. I'm afraid of starting a shitposting community though because many people here are eager to defederate from stuff that offends them. And shitposting sometimes offends people.

I agree, I don't cringe from so-called "toxic" stuff. Also, I've had many lemurs (?) tell me to leave the instance when discussing how to coordinate ourselves, while "toxic" redditors definitely never said anything like that. That's much more toxic IMO.

Still, Lemmy is a blast.
