Your account is on the instance lemmy.one. This world news community is on lemmy.ml. If you don't want to see any of the communities from lemmy.ml, you can make an account on an instance that defederates, or blocks, lemmy.ml. You can look by going to the bottom of the page on whatever instance, and click the "instances" link. Depending on which lemmy version the instance is running, blocked instances will either be on the right side of the page, or all the way at the bottom. If you just don't like this community, you can block it from your current account. There should be a big red block community button on the right side of this post.

edit: This is for web, it will be different for apps.

These are top notch, well done. I'm having trouble picking a favorite

All three are good, but I really like the top one as well. I just wish it was a seal

Hi, excuse me. I'm sorry for interrupting, but I have a quick question.

What the fuck?

+1 for Yoshi's Island

If/when it comes to a vote I'll vote to defederate just about any corporate-backed entrance into the fediverse, including any Threads instances. I think in the long run they will ruin whatever they touch.

The best one-shot is, of course, Cauterize. If you haven't read it, do it now. It's only 1,648 words.

When I was first starting to read fanfiction I would have said my favorite was the Travel Secrets series. I haven't reread it in a long time because I think I'd probably be disappointed with the Super!Harry-ness of it, and the Slytherin Politics^TM^, though. I do still think it's a shame it was abandoned before being finished though.

Later when I decided my favorite ship was Harry/Tonks, I would have said Jamie Evans and Fate's Fool. I reread it recently, and still enjoy it, but the plot's kind of all over the place. Plus, it has horcrux Dumbledore. So that's another demerit.

Currently my favorite Honks fic is probably What's a Little Death Between Friends, which has a Super!Harry, but at least he's an adult post-war and iirc an Unspeakable, so it's easier for me to suspend my disbelief. Real shame it's only 3 chapters, even if they are beefy ones. Warning: this fic contains explicit sex between consenting adults.

Favorite fic I only read for the first time recently, even if it came out years ago, is The Sum of their Parts. I can't believe I somehow missed this one when it was new. I wish that the ending had taken it's time.

Finally, I'll give my favorite crossover. Tanya Degurechaff and the Philosopher's Stone is great, and I wish there were more good Youjo Senki fics.

If lemmy becomes as big as reddit will there be a workaround in place for this? Googling something without appending 'site:reddit.com' to the end is just worthless these days. I'm googling a lot less now. Will just adding 'lemmy' be enough without specifying a site?

They're called old people

We have ground squirrels in my neck of the woods called Prairie Dogs which are similar to these, but looks like they have smaller ears, and are fatter. It's pretty cute observing a prairie dog community and some of them stand up and bark to inform the others that you're there, but the rest ignore you and keep doing what they're doing so long as you stay behind the fence. You may know of prairie dogs from the Overly Dramatic Chipmunk meme, which is actually a prairie dog and not a chipmunk. Finally, "prairie dogging" is slang for when you have to shit and a bit keeps poking out and going back in, like prairie dogs and their holes. I've also heard "turtling", and "touching cloth" for similar scenarios.
