~~But Lemmy isn't activitypub? Unless threads opens up to lemmys protocol it wouldn't be able to see anything anyway... Right? ~~

Oh shit you're right. I could have sworn I saw they used their own protocol "similar to activitypub" but looking at their site it sure as shit is activitypub. Thanks

Yes. I got off reddit a while ago due to privacy and censorship issues on top of pushing/promoting content that annoyed me or I didn't have any interest in. Been on the fediverse for a while and enjoyed that and was happy to hear there's a federated reddit alternative.

You shouldn't automatically trust open source code just because its open source. There have been cases where something on github contains actual malicious code, but those are typically not very well known or don't have very many eyes on it. But in general open source code has the potential to be more trustworthy especially if its very popular and has a lot of eyes on it.

The problem is government not capitalism

I don't know how I didn't think of this be for, but the Lemmy bean posting could be a psyop that reddit is trying to get people to return to them after switching to Lemmy

There will always be a fork of AOSP even if google ditches it the community will keep it up.
