Thanks for the response, Salamander. Firstly, I have another reason for wanting to move over to lemmy.world. As many people are shifting over from Reddit (particularly r/StephenKing), I want my community to attract members from the subreddit who are looking for a new home. And lemmy.world, being one of the biggest instances, will probably do a better job at that. Since I'm mainly trying to attract old users from r/StephenKing, using a general-purpose instance instead of one dedicated to something specific would probably be a better idea. Secondly, regarding the last paragraph of your reply, it will be much harder to migrate when we will (hopefully) have more members if you end up restricting community creation.

Another thing I wanted to ask you about: how exactly do I delete this community? From what I've seen online, I think only admins can delete them. Could you please help me with that?

We're a brand new community with only one post by myself, one test post, and a post by an irl friend i invited here. We aren't losing out on much.

NTA. I can't see how someone could've possibly interpreted this as a prank

I've seen your comment. I was logged out and it works now that I've made an account on lemmy.world and signed in. Thanks!

it's still not working..

I've heard that one of the big features of Lemmy is that users from one instance can interact and follow users from different instances. But I can't figure out how exactly that works. I made a community earlier (on mander.xyz) and when I tried searching for it from a different instance (lemmy.world) it wouldn't show up. However, a comment I made on another post made by lemmy.world user on lemmy.ml did show up. How does this work?

Idk if I'm allowed to post this here or not, (lmk if I'm not and I'll delete) but I also just created a sublemmy for Stephen King:
