I wouldn't call Cryptonomicon a tour de force, I remember it fondly. But then again, I'm mildly interested in cryptography and historical background to stuff never hurts when presented entertainingly 😀

The EU has its faults, too, like this BS about sacrificing encryption. Overall, there seem to be a lot of benefits reigning in big companies, though.
Who else is looking out for their citizens? I think some congresspeople in the US ask tough questions, but in the end, business just goes on as usual.
Während meiner Zeit in den USA gab es keine Raufasertapete. Da wird die Textur meiner Erinnerung nach einfach auf Gipsplatten mit Kartonverschalung aufgesprüht. Ohne Textur kann man Löcher auch wesentlich einfacher reparieren.
Jetzt wo unser Haus in der Schweiz einen Tapetenersatz bräuchte, mag ich das Konzept Raufasertapete gar nicht. Einfach ein Haufen Arbeit... Die Textur wäre es mir nicht wärt.
Aber jedem das seine, viel Spaß beim Tapezieren!
