In setting up a Windows Server 2022, so that I can add a client VM to the domain, how do I know what static IP address and default gateway to use for the VM server?

I thought if you were testing and creating VM's in a homelab, that microsoft offered Windows keys that activated for a period of time, no? in c/[email protected]

I'm installing MS Server 2022. I didn't know I could do this on HyperV. Playing around in it right now. I have no idea what I'm doing though. Lol.

I seem to recall someone telling me that about vm labs. Is this still the case?

I don't have servers but want to use GP to govern some settings on our small family of PCs (alien.top)
 

Basic home setup with several desktops and a few laptops. No servers. No AD. But I want to use Group Policy to govern some minor desktop stuff like wallpapers, logos, etc. Can this be achieved without servers?

Is group policy and local policy the same thing? Does this apply here?

Hmmm... So I sysprepped a VM (hyperV) to create a 'golden image'.... But.... (alien.top)
 

I understand the overall general purpose of what sysprep is. But I'm not sure if it created a file or something I can use as the golden image to deploy onto my other systems. I was hoping it was gonna create an iso or wim file that I could throw onto a USB thumb drive and use that to install Windows on my other machines.

I missed a class somewhere. Funny I don't remember skipping any of those classes. 😔
